Johnny graduated from Connellsville High School in 2011. He received All Section and All County honors each year playing. He was named the WPIAL Athlete of the year competing in baseball, basketball, and golf. He had the opportunity to play in the prestigious East Coast Professional Showcase at Yankees Stadium as well as in the Detroit Tigers’ Spring Training Complex in Lakeland Florida.

 

Johnny played for the Allegheny Pirates and committed to play at North Carolina State but chose to start his professional career after being drafted in the 9th round of the 2011 MLB Draft as a shortstop. He was named a Top 20 Prospect following his rookie season and played for the 2012 Missoula Ospreys winning the Pioneer League Championship.
